Autism Assessment

Insightful and Comprehensive Autism Evaluations.

Our Autism assessments offer a detailed understanding of how autism influences your social interactions, sensory experiences, and daily routines. We focus on recognizing the strengths and challenges unique to you, using a compassionate and holistic approach. By looking at your developmental history, communication patterns, and sensory preferences, we provide a clear diagnosis and practical guidance. Our goal is to help you navigate the world in a way that honors your neurodivergence while offering strategies to enhance your quality of life.

Our Autism Assessment process:

01

Four-Session Autism Assessment Process

You will complete four sessions, which will include clinical assessments: SRS-2 and MIGDAS-2.

  • SRS-2: This assessment is completed at home, and we will review the results together. You may invite a family member or close friend to complete it as well for added insight.

  • MIGDAS-2: This will be conducted as an in-session interview where your therapist will guide you through structured questions. The aim is to gain insights into your developmental, social, and sensory profile. This interactive process informs the overall assessment, and results will be reviewed in a follow-up session.

  • Additional Screenings: Based on your needs, you may also be asked to complete screenings such as the AQ, EQ, RAADS-14, GQ-ASQ, or CAT-Q. The results of these screenings will be shared with your therapist to guide the diagnostic process.

  • Developmental History/Family Questionnaire: You will complete a developmental history focused on family and attachment, which will be reviewed during a session. Family members may attend if you believe their input would be helpful.

1-Hour Autism Evaluation Session

This dedicated evaluation session will focus on discussing the findings from your autism assessments in detail. During this 1-hour session, your clinician will:

  • Explain the assessment results: Your clinician will provide a thorough overview of the findings, including insights into social communication, sensory processing, and behavioral patterns.

  • Answer any questions: You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your diagnosis, traits, and how they relate to your daily experiences.

  • Provide personalized recommendations: Based on your unique profile, your clinician will offer individualized recommendations for support, such as interventions, strategies for social interaction, or sensory accommodations.

  • Discuss next steps: You will explore potential next steps, including treatment options, resources for self-advocacy, educational support, or strategies for ongoing development.

What the Assessment Does Not Include

Our assessments are tailored to evaluate specific areas of neurodivergence. However, they do not cover the following:

  • IQ or Giftedness Testing

  • Assessment for Learning Disabilities

  • Full-Battery Neuropsychological Evaluations
(These evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of brain functioning. Our assessments do not diagnose IQ, learning disorders, traumatic brain injury, or similar concerns.)

Important Limitations

Please be aware of the following limitations to our assessment services:

  • We do not provide assessments for children (under 18 years old), as this requires specialized expertise.

  • We do not offer assessments outside of Minnesota.

  • We do not administer assessments for adults without verbal fluency.

Note: We believe that knowing a diagnosis alone is rarely enough. True progress comes from combining this knowledge with a personalized plan and ongoing support.

  • We do not conduct neuropsychological testing for motor skills, memory, concept formation, visual-perceptual skills, self-sufficiency, or academic achievement. These tests are typically used for children requiring a broader assessment of intellectual function.

Referral for Neuropsychological Evaluations

If a full-battery neuropsychological evaluation is needed, we are happy to refer you to local providers. This type of evaluation may be required by some educational institutions, workplaces, or for obtaining disability benefits and academic accommodations.
